Martin’s Temporarily Closed due to COVID-19 Exposure

Dear Martin’s Family,

We’ve had a good run during these past 2 years of pandemic and haven’t had to close even once but unfortunately, our lucky streak has ended. One of our key volunteers tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend, and all of our core members have been exposed to the virus. The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) has advised us that even though all of our volunteers are vaccinated, have tested negative, and are currently asymptomatic, we must still take these precautionary measures because Martin’s serves an especially vulnerable population.

In accordance with SFDPH protocol, Martin’s will be closed starting Tuesday, for at least eight days.

We are heartbroken that we can’t feed our guests during this time, but we have notified Glide and St. Anthony’s that they may have an influx of extra guests in the next few days. On Monday, December 13, a member of the Martin’s community who was not exposed to our volunteer will be distributing snack bags at the gate and informing guests that we will be shut down until it is safe to reopen.

Our dear friend is currently in isolation and keeping their spirits up. The rest of us will remain in quarantine and continue to be tested for the next 10 days. Hopefully, we will be able to return to serve our guests at Martin’s during the week of December 20th.

We appreciate everyone’s support during these tumultuous and unpredictable times. We are a small group in a big world filled with uncertainties. This global pandemic reminds us every day how connected we all are, both to our beloved Martin’s community and our human community.

Peace and love,
The Pandemics
