Our mission
Martin’s, as it is affectionately known, is a free restaurant, serving lunch from 12 to 2 pm on Mondays through Saturdays. Our mission is to serve in the spirit of compassion, understanding and love.
We are a community of people with diverse spiritual practices although our roots are in, and we continue to be inspired by, the Catholic Worker Movement. Each person who comes to Martin’s is a guest and is to be treated as such.
All donations go to benefit those for whom the money is intended and we receive no Church or government funds. Martin’s is operated 100% by volunteers since it first opened in 1971.
Meal Service
Currently we serve meals six days a week. Most of our meals are vegetarian and often vegan.
See below for our weekly schedule of meal service.
Lunch: 12:00-2:00pm
Lunch service is currently takeout or dining in the courtyard and includes hot soup, fruit, hard boiled egg, water and small snack. Mondays the meal will consist of oatmeal, pastries, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled egg, and tea.
How You Can Help
We accept electronic donations but feel strongly about making personal connections, and sending handwritten thank you notes to each and every donor. If you would like to receive a thank you card you may leave your mailing address in the notes section of the PayPal donation form and we will be more than happy to send you one. Otherwise, we wish to express our gratitude for your support of our work with hungry and needy people in our city.
Thank you!
