Dear Friends,
This week we celebrate the first day of summer, the summer solstice. Which, of course, for us, often means more fog and wind but we celebrate the long days and our sheltered garden bursting with flowers.
It feels, for the moment, as though we have hit our stride. We have made few major changes in the past couple of months, aside from welcoming some wonderful new volunteers! The numbers of guests remains remarkably steady. After the drama of the past years of the pandemic it is a relief to have some consistency.
This is not to say that there are not plans in the works for further changes, specifically, for some significant renovations to the kitchen area. The timing for this work is in the planning stages as are the specific changes themselves.
We will eventually, no doubt, be reaching out to you, our faithful family and supporters, to give us an extra boost to upgrade our aging facilities, when the time comes. Stay tuned.
We are always, ever grateful for our inspiring community of caring, compassionate volunteers and supporters and for our guests who engage us daily with their courage, their stories and their diversity.
With deep gratitude,
The Martin’s community
